Ramon Montano, is a young motivated indigenous man coming from the Kickapoo, Kumeyaay and Pa'Ipai tribal nations. Dedicate to world equity, fair and just processes, Ramon advocates for Juvenile, Community, Restorative, Educational and Social Justice and Policy. A proud community advocate who believes that we need to put children and community first, Ramon is an active voice for the implementation of County-Wide Restorative Justice within the County of San Diego and sits on the Steering Committee of the Restorative Community Conferencing Pilot Program and works for students rights and education equity. A believer in vision 2030 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and advocate for the SDG’s, Ramon serves as the Deputy Manager for Education for the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network - Youth (UNSDSN-Youth) managing and assisting in the administration of the UNSDSN-Youth Global Schools Program. Ramon’s mission is to be an active voice for Children and Youth and works to engage as many youth as possible in the process of policy and advocacy in all levels of government from Local to International. Ramon is the Co-Founder and Chief Organizational Officer for Thinking Indigenous a newly established non-profit organization working towards paving the way for indigenous youth world wide. Ramon is a well connected young man who is always willing and eager to help where ever his skills and help is needed and is always looking for ways to help and be involved for the communities which he serves. Ramon currently works full-time as the Restorative Justice Coordinator for the Preparatory Academy of the King-Chavez Neighborhood of Schools in the Barrio Logan Community of San Diego California. An active voice for children in the Local, State, National and International communities Ramon serves in the Youth Panel Commission of the UN International Education Commission, Board of Directors to the Global Campaign for Education - US, Co-Chair of the Education Working Group of the United States Human Rights Network, Teacher Candidate Advisor to the National Council on Teacher Quality, Commissioner to the County of San Diego Juvenile Justice Commission, Chief Commissioner for Indigenous Youth Affairs to the Indigenous Democracy Defense Organization, Independent UN Expert in Children and Youth Rights, Restorative,Community, Educational and Juvenile Justice and Indigenous Human Rights to the International Organization for Self-Determination and Equality. A member of the UN Indigenous Youth Caucus, UN Major Group for Children and Youth, UN Major Group for Indigenous Peoples, UN Panel on Children Deprived of Liberty and multiple other organizations. Ramon welcomes any communication on any social justice issue topic and is always willing to assist youth in becoming more involved in the political process. Ramon also currently serves as the Chief Political Officer for #NextGen Candidate for California State Governor Ramon Barajas.
